PAINTING ABROAD
In March 2023, Tilghman Hemsley took his first trip to Europe and came home with three magnificent paintings of Prague’s historical center in the Czech Republic. In July, he traveled to southern England, capturing the iconic Bowdiam Castle in East Sussex, as well as the shorelines, cliffs, and beaches of Rye and Hastings. In 2024, the artist will travel to Venice, Italy, and, later, to Normandy, France, as that country celebrates the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy that led to Europe’s liberation.
These travel experiences and the works the artist produces in Europe will become the springboard for a full exhibition of his international work, a travelogue for artists, and a series of workshops for artists seeking inspiration abroad.
